Flame Tree Cottages is located in Nungwi, at the
northern tip of Zanzibar. This area is famous for its beaches, and
watersport activities like deep sea fishing, diving. The nearby
Mnemba Atoll is one of the best diving spots on Zanzibar, and worldwide
known.
Flame Tree Cottages has cottages and bungalows
spread in the huge tropical gardens with palm trees and flame trees,
just at the beach. It's run by a friendly Zanzibari-Scottish couple,
who take care of anywish of the guests.
The Flame Tree Cottages has 13
rooms and 3 first floor Suites which are suitable for honeymooners
and families, with interconnecting doors. The rooms are very spacious
and sparkling clean, very bright, lit by sunlight, with white floor
tiles, with lovely fabrics, beautiful handmade wardrobes, and verandas
with cushioned chairs, making your stay there very comfortable.
All rooms are equipped with ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning
and ceiling fans, fridge and some have their own kitchenette. There
are large Zanzibari double beds or twin beds with mosquito nets.
The bungalows are well spaced out over a large,
very pleasant grassed area with swaying palm trees and tropical
plants. Each bungalow is furnished to a high standard and the decor
is attractive. TThe air conditioning is quiet and efficient. The
bungalows also have ceiling fans. The quite spacious ensuite facilities
are good with a plentiful supply of hot water. The larger bungalows
have a lounge/kitchen area with fridge, toaster, kettle and 4 ring
cooker. The large covered verandas have a very welcome ceiling type
fan. Breakfast, which is good, is served on the veranda.
The Flame Tree Cottages has a
small restaurant area, which is normally used if it rains. Otherwise
lunch and dinner are served outside, at the beach area. Seafood
is the speciality of the restaurant, and it's served a la carte.
Breakfast is served on the verandah of each room.
There is no swimming pool, but it's possible to
swim in the Ocean almost throughout the day. The beach area and
the gardens have hammocks, sun chairs, tables and chairs.
